Comet the Unicorn – Just in time for Unicorn Day

Happy Unicorn Day!

This one was quite the adventure to make! Having had quite the time making Apollo, I just had to make Projectarian’s other patterns! Of course a pattern sale just solidified that plan. Then being the yarn hoarder that I am, I also had yarn to burn through.

This particular one took me almost 3 weeks to make! The most time consuming part for me was the hair! After a few strands, I find I have to put it down and come back after a day or two. I don’t think the photos do the hair justice though. Using a “striping” yarn was definitely the right choice, and is now a must for any next Comets. This effect would definitely have been more difficult to achieve if I were to use solid colored yarn.

Materials and tools used:

  • Crochet pattern from Projectarian
  • Yarn
    • Red Heart Super Saver in Aran Fleck, Black, and Pool
    • Red Heart With Love in Baroque Stripe, Papaya, and White
    • Knit Picks Brava Worsted in Cornflower and Clarity
  • Fairfield Polyester fiber filling
  • Clover Soft Touch crochet hook, 4.0 mm
  • Clover yarn needle

Moogly’s Leaping Stripes Line

Tamara Kelly from Moogly recently released a new item in her Leaping Stripes design, the Mersmerizing Mini Bag!

Mine came out to a cute size of 8×11 inches. Small enough to put valuables in for trips to the beach, or as a dress-up accessory for your little cutie!

Mesmerizing Mini Bag

The pattern is very easy to understand, as always. Once you get the hang of this stitch, you can easily get into a rhythm and finish up this project quickly. This stitch can also be made as a throw/blanket, a larger bag, and even a hat. All of these can be found in the Mooglyblog website.

Want one but don’t crochet? This bag is available my shop for ordering and customization!

Hermione the Unicorn

This was a special order, but turned out so cute she must be shared!

If you’re looking to make this cutie, don’t be intimidated! She’s not as complicated as she looks! The little ruffles and mane are probably the most tedious part, but so worth the trouble! Click on the photos below to see how mine turned out! More exclamation points!!!
