Finished Object Friday: Granny Square Sweater

Last year’s Black Friday, I had a good haul of this Heartland yarn by Lion Brand. This has been my on-the-go project because it’s just a big ol’ granny square!

Granny Square Sweater

I just made a granny square as wide as my arm span. Then slip stitched together the side into itself to form the sleeve. A single crochet edge around the openings. And there you have it!

Really, that’s it.

The top part is folded over to make it look like a collar.

Warm and comfy. But in this Hawaii summer, this sweater will have to wait.

FO Friday: Wire Wrap

Introducing “Finished Object” or “FO” Friday! Now I share recent projects I have completed! So here’s a quick one to start.

I’m always finding my cords all tangled up, so I made a solution!

A quick little thing to strap around cords!

A rectangle/strip with a buttonhole, add a button, and done! I didn’t use any particular pattern, I just made some half double crochet rows and single crochet around.

Mici the Mermaid

I’m gonna lose track soon on what part of “Adventures in Lalylala-Land” I’m currently at, thus the title. Anyways Mici is finally here! I feel it’s been a while since my last Lalylala creation.

This one used some metallic thread, which gives it a great effect!

Mici the Mermaid

The main reason for this guy’s photo shoot delay was finding a location. But during the 4th of July weekend, we had a chance to drive a ways away from home and found a spot for him at the Kaka’ako Waterfront park.

Mici the Mermaid

It was nice to have some ships around in the background, I felt it inspires a backstory for Mici. As if he wandered off and got stranded far away from home. Perhaps he could useĀ a water-dwelling friend.

  • Yarn: Red Heart With Love in Eggshell, and Bluebell; Red Heart Super Saver in White and Red; Loops and Threads Impeccable in Royal

Black Tourmaline Hat

I felt like knitting a hat outĀ of a yarn I got a while back. It probably took me longer to find a pattern/design to knit than it took for me to actually make the hat. (Crocheter problems, lol!)

This pattern is super easy to follow and I just love the unique look of the finished product! This would make a great beginner project.

Charlotte Square

We recently bought a new dining set, and found a perfect centerpiece at the thrift store. This created a need for something to protect the table from the glass edge of the bowl. It was a perfect chance to make the Charlotte square from lookatwhatimade.net!! (link below)

I didn’t complete the last part since I didn’t want it to be too large for my table. After blocking, the square ended up being 20 inches.

This kind of beauty does not come “cheap.” Like the designer’s Sophie’s Universe CAL, the instructions need a bit more focus and you may not be able to recall what happens on your show. But the result makes pausing Netflix well worth it!

  • Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver in Aran and Light Grey; Caron Perfect Match in Lavender
  • Hook: 5.0mm Soft Touch crochet hook fromĀ Clover USA
